Consul General met with Mayors of several Istanbul’s District Municipalities

On 29 August 2019, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul, met with Dr Bülent Kerimoğlu, Mayor of Istanbul’s Bakırköy Municipality.

The parties explored the bilateral agenda for the upcoming few months, following the signing of the Agreement establishing friendly ties between Bakırköy and Sovietsky District of Minsk on 19 August. Arrangements and timeline were agreed as to a number of Belarusian-Turkish events in Istanbul involving members of the Belarusian community in Turkey.

On the same day, the Belarusian diplomat met with Kemal Ҫebi, Mayor of another Istanbul’s Municipality of Küçükçekmece. The meeting dwelt upon the possibilities of friendly ties to be established between Küçükçekmece and Moscow District of the Belarusian capital city. Both parties underpinned stronger inter-municipal relations and agreed about concrete efforts to develop Minsk-Istanbul links.
