Belarusian Kalyady yet again in Istanbul

On 29 December 2019, the Bakırköy District Cultural Centre in Istanbul hosted traditional Belarusian Kalyady.

The colourful New Year event yet again supported by the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul and Municipality of Istanbul’s Bakırköy brought together over 100 Belarusian Istanbulites with children. In his introduction, Aleksei Shved, Belarusian Consul General, focused on how important it was to uphold national traditions overseas, active involvement of the Belarusian community in Istanbul and determination to make Belarus-Turkey friendship yet stronger. 

The participants were excited about an interactive theatrical gig with Christmas characters. The kids particularly enjoyed amusing master classes, each and every child got hold of a gift with Belarusian chocolates at the end of the Kalyady fairytale.

The event was covered by local TV. The Consul General of Belarus gave an interview to the Istanbul media.
