Consul General met with Director of Istanbul University Library

On 5 September 2019, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul, met with Dr Pervin Bezirci, Director of Istanbul University Library. The Library is reckoned to be one of the oldest in Europe, dating back to the mid-15th century.

The parties explored opportunities of co-operation with the National Library of Belarus, including exchanges of library collections and experience, mutual upgrade of skills in library staff, involvement in joint events. A concrete agenda for further co-operation was agreed upon.

On behalf of the National Library of Belarus, Aleksei Shved presented as a gift a 20-volume facsimile of The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna in commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of Belarusian Book Printing celebrated in the recent past.
