Mayor of Grodno along with a business delegation visiting Edirne

On 10-12 June 2019, following agreements reached during a working visit made by Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, in December 2018, a delegation of Grodno City Executive Committee and business community of Grodno led by Mayor Mechyslau Hoi visited the province of Edirne in Turkey. The delegation involved senior officials of Grodno Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, prominent businesses of Grodno Region.

The visit saw a meeting with Mayor of Edirne Recep Gürkan and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two municipalities which will lay basis to twinning links between the cities of Grodno and Edirne. At the meeting with Edirne Governor Ekrem Canalp, the parties explored prospects of stronger inter-regional co-operation, specific areas of mutual engagement between Grodno Region and Edirne Province.

The meeting with Rector of the largest regionally Trakya University Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu attended by Yury Romanovsky, Pro-Rector of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, brought about signing of an Agreement for International Co-operation between the two Universities. A number of promising educational projects went through discussion.

The meeting with the presidency and members of the Edirne Trade and Industry Chamber included a presentation of business opportunities of Grodno, discussion of joint projects set to be implemented. During the stay in Edirne the representatives of Belarusian businesses and senior officials of Grodno Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited a number of manufacturing sites.
