National Library of Belarus set for partnership with Istanbul University
17.12.2019On 16-17 December 2019, Dr Raman Matulski, director of the National Library of Belarus, made a working trip to Istanbul. The visit came as follow-up to the agreements made by the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul with the director of the Istanbul University’s Library. This Library is deemed to be one of Europe’s oldest, dating back to the mid-15th century.
During the visit, with Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, in attendance, Raman Matulski met with Mahmut Ak, Rector of Istanbul University. The parties discussed the opportunities of educational co-operation as well as agreed about an exhibition at the University premises in the spring 2020 which will be dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of Great Victory in World War Two. Raman Matulski and Mahmut Ak signed a protocol of co-operation between Istanbul University and the National Library of Belarus.
A meeting with Dr Pervin Bezirci, director of Istanbul University’s Library, saw agreements about mutual visits, joint researches, conferences, seminars, master classes and exhibitions, release and exchange of joint academic and scientific publications.
