28.11.2023

On 28 November 2023, the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul played host to the opening of two permanent exhibitions about Belarus.

The outdoor fence of the Consular Mission was decorated with plaques portraying the beauties of our country, nature and a number of must-sees.

Inside the building, an exhibition “National Cultural Wealths” in Russian and Turkish, based on the materials of the Ministry of Culture, went ahead to raise awareness about unique traditions and ceremonial practices of Belarus. Many of them as Belarusian manmade wealths are put on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.

In his address in front of the Belarusian community, media, cultural figures, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, took note of the Belarusian nation’s careful attitudes towards national traditions which allowed to amass colossal cultural experience. From his perspective, numerous wars sweeping through Belarus of the day exposed material values of the country to vast damage but immaterial heritage of the Belarusians laid a solid foundation to the self-identification of the nation, realizing where Belarus is globally and from where it primarily outsources its creativity.

The event is even more symbolic since it is organized during the Year of Peace and Creation.

The guests enjoyed the treats of Belarusian cuisine.
