Feature movie screened in Çanakkale to celebrate the Independence Day of Belarus

On 24 June 2023, a military action movie ‘Brest Fortress’ directed by Aleksandr Kott was screened in central Çanakkale, in a building owned by the Candidate  Honorary Consul of Belarus in the province.

The screening organized by Rıdvan Demirhan, Candidate Honorary Consul of Belarus in Çanakkale, with support extended by the Belarusian Embassy in Ankara and Consulate General in Istanbul, commemorated the Nationwide Memorial Day of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and Genocide of the Belarusian Nation as well as Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

Those who took part in the screening included over 60 people, with the Vice Governor of Çanakkale Province, members of broader public and business, local media in attendance.

In their opening remarks, Victor Rybak, Ambassador of Belarus, and Aleksei Shved, Consul General, went on to describe Belarus’ role in securing the Great Victory, given a heavy toll claimed on all Soviet nations, cautioned against the re-writing of the past history, reiterated the importance of peace and creativity in a perpetually turbulent world.
