Belarusian Kalyady come to Istanbul yet again

On 25 December 2021, the Bakırköy District Cultural Centre in Istanbul hosted traditional Belarusian Kalyady.

The colourful New Year event wrapped up after a two-year pandemics break and supported by the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul and Municipality of Istanbul’s Bakırköy brought together around 100 Belarusian Istanbulites with children. In attendance were senior officials of Bakırköy Municipality and media outlets.

In his introduction, Aleksei Shved, Belarusian Consul General, focused on how important it was, especially during the National Unity Year, to conduct unifying events for the Belarusian community and uphold national and cultural traditions as well as extended his wishes of every success and strong health next year to each and every Belarusian Istanbulite.

The participants were excited about an interactive theatrical gig with Christmas characters. At the end of the Kalyady fairytale each and every kid got hold of a sweet Christmas gift supplied by Kommunarka Confectionery Factory.

In the end, the audience enjoyed Belarusian sweet treats.
