Consul General travelling to Izmir on 26 October

On 26 October 2020, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, held an onsite meeting with citizens of the Republic of Belarus residing in central and southern parts of the Consulate’s consular district. The event running at the premises of the Honorary Consulate of Belarus in Izmir saw consultations on pressing consular and legal matters, handling of some consular paperwork and formalities.

At a meeting with the Belarusian membership of the Izmir Russian-speaking Cultural Society, the Consul General was involved into an engaging dialogue with Izmir-residing Belarusians about the living environment in Turkey, agreed to fulfil a number of cultural projects next year to raise the profile of the Belarusian culture in Izmir.

On the same day, Aleksei Shved met with Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir. The parties explored matters relating to economic, educational and cultural co-operation. Focus was given to the twinning opportunities with a Belarusian city. It was agreed that the Mayor’s office would support the projects of the Belarusian community which both sides appreciate as important input into the multicultural life of the 3 m. city.
