Delegation of Belarusian universities travel to Istanbul
25.02.2021On 23-25 February 2021, with support extended by the Consulate General of Belarus, Istanbul played host to a visit of the international offices of six Belarusian universities and Centre for International Relations of the Ministry of Education.
The delegation represented Belarusian National Technical University, Brest State A.S. Pushkin University, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Polotsk State University.
The Belarusian delegation visited Istanbul University and Aydın University, made a tour of the campuses, met with the rectors and exchanged informed views about the areas of co-operation between the educational institutions.
At a meeting with Dr Mustafa Aydın, President of Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, conveyed an official letter signed by Igor Karpenko, Minister of Education of Belarus, inviting the Turkish dignitary to visit our country on a working trip. The meeting involving plenty of interested guests explored opportunities of Belarus universities’ engagement in the forthcoming Eurasian Higher Education Summits run by EURAS.
As two sessions of the full-day seminar at the premises of the Consulate General progressed, the Belarusian delegation kept the broader audience (over 10 Turkish universities, recruiting agencies, and Istanbul municipality officers) informed about the current level of development in the higher education sector of Belarus, showcased Brand “Education in Belarus”, Bachelors and Masters Programmes, Skill Improvement Courses, Summer and Winter Schools, Russian Language Courses. The parties identified common ground pertaining to concrete areas of co-operation in the short run.
