Consul General visited Edirne on a working trip

On 2-3 May 2024, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul, along with Rıdvan Demirhan, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Ҫanakkale, visited the northwestern province of Edirne in the historical Turkish region of Thrace.

As the working trip went ahead, they paid courtesy visits to Yunus Sezer, Governor of Edirne,

Filiz Gencan Akın, Mayor of Edirne,

met with Ambassador Murat Ahmet Yörük, Representative of the Turkish MFA in Edirne, 

Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Rector of Thrace University,

Sezai Irmak, President of Board at the Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The side explored the issues of broader engagement with Grodno Region twinned with Edirne, mapped out bilateral agenda in the short run.

The Belarusian diplomats supported a national swimming team at the local swimming qualifications in Edirne.
