Consul General accompanying a BSU delegation to Çanakkale

On 10 January 2022, the province of Çanakkale played host to a working visit by a BSU delegation led by Vice Rector Mikhail Charapennikau and escorted by Aleksei Shved, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul.

The visit came as follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding entered into between the Belarusian State University and Çanakkale 18 March University back in 2021. Central to the inter-university co-operation is involvement of Belarusian experts yet to be settled for the unique archeological excavations at Ancient Troy.

During the visit supported by the Consulate General and its Çanakkale representative Rıdvan Demirhan the Belarusian educational delegation met with Dr Sedat Murat, Rector of the Çanakkale 18 March University, and agreed to focus on a number of areas of co-operation.

With Dr Rüstem Aslan, Head of Archeological Excavations, leading the way, the delegation visited the site of works at Ancient Troy, was advised of the latest practices used by the Turkish colleagues and came to understanding about logistical matters.
